The 4th Malaysian International Seminar on Antarctica (MISA4) is jointly organised by University of Malaya (UM), Malaysian Antarctic Research Program (MARP) and Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM). We cordially invite you to participate in this polar sciences seminar.

BACKGROUND

The 4th Malaysian International Seminar on Antarctica (MISA4) is a biennial event which brings together researchers from various polar and non-polar nations to share their research findings as well as to generate interest on Antarctica among the general public and school children. The theme of MISA4 is ‘Legacy of IPY to the Tropics'. The tentative programme includes sessions on Policy, Heritage and Legacy, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences as well as two concurrent workshops and an outreach programme.

The successes of MISA1, 2 and 3 are well-recognized. They have created new opportunities for Malaysian Scientists through MARP to collaborate and contribute effectively towards research in Antarctica . MISA4 is an opportunity for collaborators to present the outcomes of these collaborations and to plan for future programmes in Antarctica . Further, MISA4 also provides the platform to forge new collaborations. The seminar also targets local scientists with interest to pursue research on Antarctica .
